Environmental Conservation

The rural communities and smallholder farmers rely heavily on natural resources from their environmental for survival and well-being. However, climate change, population increase, and poverty puts pressure on natural resources leading to depletion and degradation of such resources like land, soil, and forests. The depletion of forests, water catchments, and soil jeopardizes the survival of communities like Homa Bay.

Creats International supports projects that support the environment, provide food, and wealth to communities. To this end, we emphasize and promote businesses in the green economy such as tree nurseries, black soldier flies, and manufacturing of biochar from organic wastes. As part of our capacity-building projects, we also provide technical knowledge of nature-based solutions for pest control, and promote organic farming, small enterprise development and livelihood diversification as climate change adaptation strategy.

We currently have several projects geared towards promoting environmental conservation. For instance, we are promoting vermicomposting, black soldier flies, biochar, and tree planting. Additionally, we also promote Climate-Smart and Agroecological practises including crop rotation, agroforestry, intercropping, reduced tillage, cover cropping, and drip irrigation among others. Our project interventions are aimed at improving food security, diversifying income, and fostering community resilience to climate change.
