CREATS was founded in 2015 as a community-based organization in Homa Bay County, Kenya. The Organization was established by a group of young professionals from the community led by Willis Ochieng and the late George Opiyo. At the core, CREATS' founders were inspired to collaborate with the community to dismantle social, cultural, political, and economic barriers holding the community from thriving.

CREATS' theory of change lies in collaborating with like-minded individuals and organizations to build synergy and tackle poverty and hunger permeating rural areas. Our approach to development is anchored on participatory approaches that gives communities power to define their problems and co-create solutions. To this end, CREATS work primarily to transform agriculture, conserve the environment, and support community development.

Driven by our clear vision and mission, coupled with our curious and restless leadership, CREATS has achieved tremendeous milestones in the last eight years. CREATS has become the go-to place for accessing quality agricultural inputs on a timely fasion. The organization has also distinguished itself as a primier center for agricultural capacity-building,knowldge dissemination, and advocates of gender equality.

The growing demand for our services across communities, underscored the need to register CREATS as non-profit. Consequently, Creats International was registered as U.S. 501(c)(3) charity in May 2023. In this regard, we have also expanded our programmatic areas to include rural health, education, and food security. Despite these growth, our mission of transforming communities remains unwavering.
